We have now been living in our new subterranean(underground) home that we built with the help of my dad and brother for almost 2 months now. Our home consist of 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. The master bath is attached to our master bedroom but in the process of building the plans got a little off kilter and adjustments had to be made and we lost space in the master bath, boo.. :(

My husband works nights and weekends so our schedules are some sort of crazy most of the time. I decided that I needed to make the other bathroom (which was technically the kids bathroom) mine as well. As I sat soaking in the tub one night, I noticed how drab, boring, and neutral I had let the whole color scheme of my house get, so I began searching for something to liven up and add color to this particular bathroom. Searching anxiously for a shower curtain, I found your usually striped, polka dot, paisley themed shower curtains (not that there weren’t some I liked, just not what I was wanting). I had envisioned something with bright colors, abstract in a sense, and meaningful. I like things that invoke the thought process. As I scrolled through pages and pages of shower curtains, I came across an abstract, colorful tree patterned shower curtain and immediately thought, “BAM, that’s it”! To me trees symbolize so much: age, growth, changes, live, death, beauty, childhood memories, and I could go on and on but you get the point. I love furniture, décor, themes, and designs that have a deeper meaning that what is visual. So I purchased it for $24.99.

I was so excited to receive it in the mail and immediately hung it up. After it was hung, I looked around thought, its time to add some color to the walls. My mom had noticed the new shower curtain brought the green tones out in the paint which looked just beige beforehand but I wanted to make something else pop! I had just spray painted the mirror in the bathroom to match the oil rubbed bronze light fixtures but did not really like the color. The more and more, I stared at this shower curtain the brighter the blue accent color used within the design kept catching my eye time after time and I thought “that’s it” a bright blue mirror! This design was completed for less than $50!!

Wanting to make sure that my bright blue mirror wasn’t going to be a décor disaster, I bought a couple of magazines and searched the internet of course to see what was hot and what’s not! Evidently, I was right on cue. The winning combos of bright colors are trending for this spring and summer. These colors include aqua, yellows, blues, purples, turquoise, tangerine, and red. I then added a couple of natural elements and on the opposing wall a group of mismatched vintages frames and collectibles painted with a simple coat of paint for a cohesive look to complete the design, what do you think? But for now blue, oh oh oh oh, looks good on my wall ( you may have heard a song similar to that phrase before, wink, wink) ! Have a Beautiful Day!
