How do you plan to decorate for fall? I love the time of year where the smells and visuals of fall are pronounced and the crisp cooler mornings greet us each day. This year it’s all about pumpkins of all shapes and sizes! Pumpkins stacked, different color pumpkins, just pumpkins galore. When picking pumpkins for your decor, check the stem and make sure there is no oozing or mold and do not carry the pumpkin by the stem and do not break the stem off. If you want your pumpkins to last the duration of fall into early winter do not carve them (uncarved pumpkins can last for months). You could also incorporate gourds and winter squashes!
Fall decor would not be complete without mum's! Mum's come in all shapes, sizes, and colors but here are some tips on picking out the perfect mum's for your fall decor. Choose plants that are fully budded but not fully bloomed. Already bloomed mum's will fade especially on those occasional warmer fall days. A way to utilize or dress up your plastic pots and to wrap with a burlap sack or slipping them into a vintage seed bag.
My favorite way to transition into fall decorating is to utilize the leftover greenery and continue to use blooming flowers and foliage in arrangements and wreaths. If you plan ahead ,you can dry out your flowers and use them to create a fall wreath or centerpiece. A key to successful decorating with pumpkins and mum's this fall is to add depth and increase interest by elevating the pumpkins and plants on tables, rustic chairs, plant stands, window boxes, and steps. No need to worry about your color theme, all colors are acceptable this fall! Mix colors and create dimensions in your design and enjoy and admire your decor all the way to Christmas!
Happy Fall Ya'll!!
